The Sharp AQUOS R2 is built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, so it flashes via QFIL in EDL (9008) mode using a firehose programmer — the Qualcomm method.
Watch the carrier variant
The AQUOS R2 shipped in several variants (docomo, au and SoftBank — SH-03K, SHV42, 706SH). Their firmware is not interchangeable. Flash the ROM that matches your exact model and carrier or you’ll soft-brick it.
Before you start
- Back up your data first.
- Install the Qualcomm 9008 USB drivers (guide).
- Get the firmware for your exact R2 variant.
How to flash with QFIL
- Load the firehose programmer and the rawprogram/patch XMLs in QFIL.
- Power the phone off and connect it in EDL (9008) mode.
- Click Download, wait for success, then boot (the first boot is slow).
Common problems
- “Sahara fail”: wrong firehose or wrong variant.
- Not detected: reinstall the Qualcomm drivers or change USB port.
