Android secret codes (also called dialer, USSD, or MMI codes) are short sequences you type into the phone app to open hidden test menus, view device information, or run diagnostics. They are genuinely useful for troubleshooting — but a few can change settings or even wipe your phone, so use only the codes you understand.
The most useful codes that work on most phones
- *#06# — instantly displays your IMEI number(s). Handy for checking warranty, insurance, or whether a phone is blacklisted.
- *#*#4636#*#* — opens the Testing menu with phone info, battery stats, and usage statistics (availability varies by version).
- *#*#34971539#*#* — camera information on many devices.
- *#*#232339#*#* — Wi-Fi and wireless connection test menu.
- *#*#0*#*#* — LCD/display test on many models.
Codes to treat with caution
Sequences such as *2767*3855# (a known full factory-reset code on some older devices) or any code described as “format” or “wipe” will erase data with no confirmation. Do not run these unless you specifically intend to reset the device.
Why some codes don’t work
Google and manufacturers have disabled many engineering codes on newer Android versions for security, and codes differ between brands (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and others each have their own service menus). If a universal code does nothing, it has likely been removed on your model — check the brand-specific list below.
