How to Hard Reset the Motorola Moto G55

The Motorola Moto G55 runs near-stock Android (My UX), so resetting it is straightforward. A hard reset (factory reset) restores the phone to factory condition — the usual fix for a forgotten lock screen, a frozen or slow device, or before resale. Use Settings if you can unlock it, or Recovery if you’re locked out.

Before you start

  • Back up your data — a reset erases everything.
  • Know the Google account on the phone; it’s required after a reset (FRP).
  • Charge to at least 30%.

Method 1 — factory reset from Settings

  • Open Settings → System → Reset options.
  • Tap Erase all data (factory reset).
  • Tap Erase all data, enter your PIN if asked, and confirm.

Method 2 — hard reset from Recovery (if you’re locked out)

  • Power the phone off.
  • Hold Power + Volume Down until the boot menu appears.
  • Use Volume Down to highlight Recovery mode and press Power.
  • If you see “No command”, hold Power and tap Volume Up once.
  • Select Wipe data/factory reset, confirm, then reboot.

Important: Google (FRP) lock

After the reset, the Moto G55 asks for the last Google account that was signed in. Have those details ready. Full steps in our hard reset any Android guide.

FAQ

Will a reset remove a forgotten pattern?

Yes, the recovery method clears the lock — but the previous Google account is still required afterwards.

Does it delete everything?

Yes. Apps, photos, accounts and settings are wiped, so back up first.
