The OnePlus 13 runs OxygenOS on Android. A hard reset (factory reset) wipes it back to factory condition — the standard fix for a forgotten lock screen, a frozen or slow phone, or before you sell it. Use Settings if the phone unlocks, or Recovery if you’re locked out.
Before you start
- Back up your data — everything will be erased.
- Know the Google account on the phone; it’s required after a reset (FRP).
- Charge to at least 30%.
Method 1 — factory reset from Settings
- Open Settings → System settings → Back up and reset.
- Tap Reset phone → Erase all data.
- Enter your PIN if asked, then confirm.
Method 2 — hard reset from Recovery (if you’re locked out)
- Power the phone off.
- Hold Volume Down + Power until the phone boots into Recovery.
- Choose your language, and enter the screen-lock PIN if prompted.
- Select Wipe data/factory reset → Erase everything, then reboot.
Important: Google (FRP) lock
After the reset, the OnePlus 13 asks for the last Google account that was signed in. Keep those details handy. See our hard reset any Android guide for the full process.
FAQ
Recovery asks for a PIN — why?
Newer OxygenOS requires your screen-lock PIN in recovery as a security check before it will wipe.
Will a reset improve performance?
Usually yes — it clears clutter and misbehaving apps that slow the phone down.
