How to Hard Reset the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 runs HyperOS (MIUI’s successor). A hard reset (factory reset) returns it to factory settings — the usual fix for a forgotten lock screen, a frozen or slow phone, or before resale. Use Settings if you can unlock it, or Mi Recovery if you’re locked out.

Before you start

  • Back up your data — a reset erases everything.
  • Know your Mi account and Google account; both can be required after a reset (FRP).
  • Charge to at least 30%.

Method 1 — factory reset from Settings

  • Open Settings → About phone → Factory reset (or Settings → Additional settings → Back up & reset).
  • Tap Erase all data.
  • Enter your PIN and Mi account password if asked, then confirm.

Method 2 — hard reset from Mi Recovery (if you’re locked out)

  • Power the phone off.
  • Hold Volume Up + Power until the Mi logo appears, then release.
  • In Mi Recovery, choose Wipe Data → Wipe All Data (use volume to move, power to select).
  • Confirm, then reboot.

Important: Mi & Google locks

The Redmi Note 14 may ask for the previous Mi account and Google account after a reset. Have both ready, or you can be locked out. More in our hard reset any Android guide.

FAQ

What is the Mi account lock?

Xiaomi’s anti-theft tie-in. If the phone had a Mi account, you’ll need that password after a reset, in addition to Google’s FRP.

Does it erase the SD card?

It wipes internal storage; remove the microSD first if you want to keep it untouched.
