The JioPhone is a KaiOS keypad phone, so it doesn’t have an Android recovery menu. A factory reset returns it to its original settings — useful when it’s frozen, very slow, or you’re passing it on. Back up anything you need first, because a reset clears the phone’s saved contacts, messages and downloads.
Factory reset from the menu
- From the home screen, open Settings.
- Scroll to Device (or Storage) and look for Reset / Restore factory settings.
- Select it and confirm. If it asks for a code, the default is usually 0000 or 1234 unless you changed it.
- The phone restarts and finishes setup as new.
What a reset clears
- Contacts and messages saved on the phone (not on the SIM)
- Downloaded apps from the JioStore
- Photos, ringtones and settings
Locked out of the phone?
If you’ve forgotten the phone-lock code and can’t reach the menu, a keypad phone can’t be wiped from a button combo like Android. Contact Jio support or a Jio store with your proof of purchase for help. For other button phones, see our factory reset any keypad phone guide.
FAQ
Does a reset remove my Jio SIM or number?
No — a reset clears the phone’s memory only. Your SIM, number and recharge are untouched.
Will it fix a slow or stuck JioPhone?
Often yes — a reset clears clutter and corrupt data that cause freezing.
