How to Hard Reset the Samsung Galaxy A55

The Samsung Galaxy A55 is a popular One UI mid-ranger. A hard reset (factory reset) restores it to factory condition — the go-to fix for a forgotten PIN or pattern, a sluggish or frozen phone, or preparing it for resale. Use Settings if the phone still unlocks, or Recovery if you’re locked out.

Before you start

  • Back up your data — everything on the phone will be erased.
  • Know the Google account on the device; the A55 asks for it after a reset (FRP).
  • Charge to at least 30%.

Method 1 — factory reset from Settings

  • Open Settings → General management → Reset.
  • Tap Factory data reset → Reset.
  • Enter your PIN/pattern, then tap Delete all.

Method 2 — hard reset from Recovery (if you’re locked out)

  • Power the phone off.
  • Hold Volume Up + Side (Power) until the Samsung logo shows, then release.
  • Highlight Wipe data/factory reset with the volume keys, select with the Side key.
  • Confirm, then choose Reboot system now.

Important: Google (FRP) lock

After resetting, the A55 requires the last Google account that was signed in. Have those details ready first. More detail in our hard reset any Android guide.

FAQ

Will it remove a forgotten pattern?

Yes, the recovery reset clears the lock — but you’ll still need the previous Google account.

Is my SD card erased too?

A factory reset wipes internal storage; a microSD card is usually left alone, but remove it first to be safe.
